History Matters in the Mission Featuring Artist Alejandra Rubio “The Mission Is Not Dead” Presented at Artillery Ceramics & Gallery

On October 11, 2025, Artillery Ceramics & Gallery proudly joined Paseo Artístico, the Mission District’s free, bilingual community art walk celebrating the stories, struggles, and creativity that define our neighborhood. This season’s theme, “History Matters in the Mission 2010–2020,” invited artists to reflect on the last decade — from cultural resilience to collective resistance.

We were honored to feature Alejandra Rubio and her powerful multimedia installation, “The Mission Is Not Dead,” a tribute to the legacy of the Mission Market on 22nd and Mission. Through memories, dreams, and play, Rubio transforms the gallery into a living archive — a space to honor grief, love, and the endurance of community spirit in the face of displacement and gentrification.

Her work reminds us that while buildings may fall, the heart of the Mission beats on through art, memory, and collective resistance.
